More than 30 organisations from across Wrexham recently came together with a shared

ambition - to make Wrexham one of the best places in the world to grow up.

The gathering, known as WrexChange, was organised by Wrexham City Board and brought together leaders from business, culture, education, sport, the voluntary sector and local government.

The aim was simple but powerful: to connect the many organisations working to improve

Wrexham and explore how collaboration can amplify the impact of investment and

regeneration across the county borough.

Capturing a Unique Moment for Wrexham

Wrexham is currently experiencing an extraordinary level of attention and momentum.

With international interest growing and significant investment already underway, there is a real sense that the city stands at a defining moment in its development.

City Board Chair Rachel Clacher described Wrexham as being in a position that few places ever experience - a combination of global attention, local ambition and genuine opportunity. WrexChange was designed to harness that momentum and ensure organisations across the city are working in a coordinated and collaborative way.

A Fast-Paced Exchange of Ideas

The event, hosted at Coleg Cambria, featured an energetic programme of presentations

highlighting the wide range of initiatives currently shaping Wrexham’s future.

In just two hours, attendees heard 15 five-minute presentations alongside 10 rapid 60-

second updates, showcasing projects and plans from across the region.

From economic development and cultural investment to community initiatives and education programmes, the session illustrated just how much positive activity is already underway. For many participants, the event offered a rare opportunity to see the full picture of Wrexham’s transformation.

Collaboration Across Sectors

What made the event particularly distinctive was the diversity of organisations involved.

Business leaders, voluntary organisations, cultural partners, educators and community

groups all shared their perspectives and ambitions for Wrexham.

This cross-sector collaboration reflects the approach championed by Wrexham City Board - recognising that lasting change can only be achieved when organisations work together. Representatives from the business community, voluntary sector and Wrexham AFC all highlighted the importance of building strong partnerships to support Wrexham’s growth.

Connecting the Dots

For the City Board, WrexChange represents more than a single event.

Programme Manager Lisa Scully described the gathering as the beginning of a new

approach to partnership working in Wrexham.

By creating space for organisations to understand what each other is doing, the City Board hopes to unlock opportunities for stronger collaboration and more effective use of resources. The Board sees itself not only as a programme delivery body for the Pride in Place funding, but also as a connector and convenor for organisations working to improve Wrexham.

Looking Ahead

The inaugural WrexChange event generated significant energy and optimism among those attending. Videos from each presentation have been recorded and will be shared online so that others across the community can see the work already underway.

The next WrexChange gathering, planned for early summer, will build on this momentum

and open the conversation to local residents and community groups.

It will provide an opportunity for people across Wrexham to hear more about the projectsshaping the city’s future - and to explore how they can play a role in that journey.

Because the future of Wrexham will be strongest when it is shaped together.
